Safe bicycle racks introduced during Mobility Week
“In the CitiCAP project, we want to test new possibilities for parking bicycles. It is great that the racks were introduced during the European Mobility Week”, says Project Manager Anna Huttunen.
The bicycle racks are part of the CitiCAP project’s smart cycle route. The cycle route functions as a platform for experimenting with several smart solutions and other services promoting sustainable mobility. Solutions bringing added value for cyclists were sought in an innovation competition in 2018.
Ten high-quality proposals were received for the competition from four countries: England, Japan, Estonia and Finland. The solutions related to traffic control, facilitating maintenance, lighting and bicycle parking.
The introduction of the bicycle racks was celebrated during the European Mobility Week. Cyclists were offered morning coffee and guidance on using the bicycle racks with a bus card.
