CURANT participates in Swedish ESN-seminar on migrant children
The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare hosted this event in Sweden, as it was one of the countries most affected by the arrival of asylum-seeking children in 2015 and 2016. The seminar facilitated the exchange of knowledge between 160 participants out of 20 countries. The main question during the seminar was: “ how can a city provide adequate access to services like education, work, housing and healthcare for young migrants, and especially young unaccompanied migrants, and thus let them integrate in society?”
CURANT took the platform to exchange lessons learnt so far in the project. After the speech of the project manager, there was an informal exchange of practical information in small groups. Lots of participants of different countries asked questions like:
- “How do you match refugee and volunteer?”
- ”Can we stay updated about the project results?”
Jolien, project manager: “ What I learnt most about this conference is that some policy makers at the seminar finally realize that everybody, including young migrants, has potential to become an integrated member of society. A host society needs to facilitate this integration. I think CURANT is one way to do this and many participants agreed with me.”
