Cities engaging in the right to housing: a call for a long-term political commitment

UIA & URBACT are organising a final event featuring the main results of the culminating activity of Cities Engaging in the Right to Housing - a 1.5 year of cooperation between the 2 EU-funded programmes, paving the way to future knowledge sharing within the European Urban Initiative.

A year following the outbreak of the global pandemic, the housing crisis has intensified in Europe, as highlighted in Housing Europe’s State of Housing 2021 report. The right to housing has now become more important than ever before.

On 22 April 10.00 CET, join us for valuable discussions and inspirational talks as the adoption of report on Access to Decent and Affordable Housing for All by the European Parliament progresses and the Portuguese Presidency takes forward the European Pillar of Social Rights.

This event will be releasing a knowledge platform on the right to housing, gathering the main take-aways of UIA and URBACT's learning activity, and bringing the voices of EU cities to the EU debate. It will additionally underline the EU vision on this right with the aim of inspiring urban stakeholders and policy makers.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to talk with David Madden, Associate Professor in Sociology and Co-Director of the Cities Programme at LSE (London School of Economics), the cities of Ghent and Lisbon and the European Commission on the EU vision for housing. Scroll down for a detailed agenda!
