Viladecans City Council, AMB, the citizen organisation and the business association for energy transition set up Vilawatt Consortium
Representatives of the Viladecans City Council, Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), Viladecans citizens association for the energy transition and Vilawatt-Viladecans association of businesspeople for the energy transition hosted the first general assembly of the Vilawatt Consortium. It was held last Wednesday, 19 February, at 12 noon, at the Casal de Barri de la Montserratina community centre.
Representing the city council, Mayor Carles Ruiz and Deputy Mayor for the Ecological Transition, Environment, Mobility and Waste Management Jordi Mazón were at the event. From AMB, Vice-president of Ecology Eloi Badia and Director of Ecology Imma Mayol attended.
The agenda for the Assembly was:
1. Establish the Vilawatt Consortium for the Energy Transition and kick off activities
2. Appoint members of the General Assembly
3. Set up the Executive Board of the Vilawatt Consortium
4. Appoint members of the Executive Board
5. Delegate functions of President of the Executive Board
6. Questions and requests
This first assembly means a big step in the period of implementation of the project after the rehabilitations of buildings. The next step will be the entry into circulation of the Vilawatt local currency in March, 2020. The currency team is now working in the creation of the certified business network that will accept Vilawatts.
The newly created consortium will become one of the city’s tools to tackle the energy transition in the area, managing the four focal points of Vilawatt: power supply, energy empowerment of the people through guidance and training, refurbishing buildings (based on the first three examples of demo-refurbished buildings) and launching a new local currency linked to energy savings.
