Thanks from Szeged to the Many Users of Community Transport Vehicles
Thank you for travelling in an environmentally aware way!
Seventy-one out of a hundred citizens of Szeged can answer: “You are welcome” – this is the percentage of those who choose one or several of the following modes of transport instead of the car as part of their everyday routine:
- means of community transport
- the bicycle
- the scooter
- or simply walk.
Sándor Nagy, Vice Mayor for City Development, held a short press conference on the topic at the tram terminal at Európa Liget, outside the 105 Pesa, which arrived here as a “Special SASMob Service”. The aim of this most recent campaign on environmental awareness, scheduled for a period of 3 months, is to further increase the popularity of sustainable modes of transport.
– We would like to thank the inhabitants of Szeged for their contribution to making the city’s air even cleaner, having less dust and noise and fewer traffic jams. Those who do not use cars to travel do make such contributions – said Sándor Nagy. The 105 Pesa, which worked as a “light tram” during the Advent season now works as a “private contractor” for SASMob: in the passenger area, information bubbles are seen in every corner which teach the reader what and how they can do to travel in an even more sustainable and green manner – with bad examples also mentioned. QR codes are found at several spots in the passenger area, which take the reader to the website of environmentally friendly Szeged.
The thanking campaign is not only about this one particular tram: all passengers in Szeged will encounter these thanking stickers, on buses, trolleybuses and trams alike. – We would like to provide all passengers in Szeged with the feedback that by choosing community transport they not only find a mode of transport but also contribute to making Szeged a liveable city – said Sándor Nagy. On the website mentioned above, messages and positive examples can be shared about who does what for the environment.
Naturally, the tram is not an exhibit: it is a vehicle that actively takes part in the city’s traffic. Let us trust that it will not have an accident, and its stickers will last till the end of the campaign: this would, perhaps, mean that decoration, i.e. the stickers placed in and on the tram, will also be sustainable – which proves true if they are also taken care of by the inhabitants of Szeged.
