Two UIA projects for a joint kick-off!
Circular economy is an economy model, which enables re-use of materials and creation of new products with lower costs and is based on connecting and collaboration of different participants. Knowing that circular economy establishment in a local environment is greatly dependable on successful collaboration between the partners on local level, it is not a coincidence that we have decided to represent both UIA projects from the two of the largest cities in Slovenia together, on one joint kick-off event, which took place on 18th of January in Maribor.
The deputy mayor of Ljubljana Mr. Dejan Crnek and deputy mayor of Maribor Mr. Saša Pelko have attended the event and welcomed everybody in Maribor. Together with representatives of Municipality of Ljubljana and Municipality of Maribor, who are responsible for Applause and Urban soil 4 food implementation, all project partners on both sides were also present at the meeting, and jointly discussed the common areas and goals of the two UIA projects from during a lively debate at the Municipality of Maribor. The press at the kick-off event was well represented and both local and national media reported about the launch of Urban soil 4 food and Applause very positively.
Project teams from Ljubljana and Maribor have presented the content and main milestones from their UIA projects and introduced themselves, so all Urban soil 4 food and Applause collaborators got to know each other and their field of expertise. At the end of the meeting at the Municipality of Maribor a lively discussion between meeting attendees took place, followed with a relaxed gathering and lunch at the Old vine house, where the oldest vine in the world grows.
Both Slovenian UIA projects fit perfectly in circular economy field, so delegations from Ljubljana and Maribor have agreed that their cooperation is crucial for a successful implementation of their projects. During the joint kick-off event project partners from Ljubljana and Maribor found out more about all the common areas of Applause and Urban soil 4 food and have made plans of more joint activities and gatherings in the future, all with an aim of a great collaboration, exchange of knowledge and experience.
