New Urban gardens are emerging

Garden in progress
Garden in progress
Within the Urban Soil 4 Food project, new urban gardens will be built on 12,500 square meters, spreading under Pekrska gorca. In the gardens we will accept 66 new gardeners. Infrastructure in gardens is not yet fully prepared at this moment, but work on the land is already intensively carried out.

For the preparatory work, project partner Aktiviraj se, which organized the hoeing of the land for the new town gardens in the last month also has taken care of the plans that were prepared by the Engineer; communal equipment began to be implemented to serve the gardeners for the tenants. At the end of May, a public call was issued to distribute city gardens to the most suitable tenants, while the opening of the gardens is planned for the end of June.

In the last two months, two new vertical gardens have been built, which we have committed to the project in various local public institutions. While we arranged a vertical garden in the kindergarten Tezno in April and made sure that the cooks could now collect the herbs directly from the "home garden", in May a vertical garden in the Elderly home Dom pod Gorco was built and will bring fresh vegetables this year to inhabitants with cherry tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins and strawberries and the people there can enjoy the smell of fresh herbs planted in vertical garden.
