Getting ready for the Green Waste Challenge
From waste to taste
The challlenge is about keeping individual green waste on-site instead of transporting it for its disposal. The city will therefore install compost containers at different locations. We also organise instruction sessions on how to compost. The first container will be installed by the City Cleaning Department on a plot where also a small community garden can be set up. In a previous survey, a group of residents turned out to be interested in gardening together. This way, the humus from the compost container will also immediately prove useful as it can be used for the plants in the garden.
Engaging the commmunity
The kick-off of the Green Waste Challenge will be organised on the 21st of April. This is a first interaction of dialogue: we will learn from the residents how we can make this challenge more attractive and appreciated by them and the residents will receive information on how to use the compost containers.
On the same day the residents of the social housing company will be participating in a local neigbourhood action, cleaning the public space around their building. We will warmly invite them to join our meet-up. All participants receive a plant tray from project partner Kringwinkel and some flowers as a colourful appreciation.
