Three UIA workshops at the European Week of Regions and Cities

EUWRC 2018
The European Week of Regions and Cities is the annual event organised by Committee of the Regions and DG Regional and Urban Policy for cities and regions. It will take place in Brussels from 08 to 11 October 2018. UIA will host three workshops. Registrations now open on the EUWRC website.

During this annual four-day event, cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. More than 6000 participants from 70 different countries gather each year.

The UIA will host/co-organise three workshops:

10 October from 14:30 to 16:00 - Announcement of the winners of the UIA Call, together with the Hauts-de-France Region and the European Commission, DG REGIO (code 10WS99URB)

During this workshop, the names of the cities selected for the UIA 3rd call for Proposals on the topics Air Quality, Adaptation to Climate Change, Housing, and Jobs & Skills in the local economy, will be revealed.

11 October from 09:30 to 11:00 - Fighting urban poverty with innovative solutions: six UIA cities share lessons and experience (code 11WS106URB)

Six UIA cities are implementing bold projects tackling the main causes of poverty, and are testing different but similarly innovative solutions. During this workshop, Barcelona, Lille, Nantes, Birmingham, Pozzuoli and Turin will share lessons learnt so far, discuss cross-cutting questions and inspire other urban practitioners and policy-makers.

11 October from 11:30 to 13:00 Shape your city with new solutions and discover the new topics of UIA Call 4 (code 11WS107URB)

This workshop will be the occasion to officially launch the fourth UIA Call for Proposals, dedicated to the following topics:

  • Sustainable Use of Land
  • Urban Poverty
  • Urban Security
