The city of Antwerp hosted an international conference on migration, organised by the Urban Innovative Action Fund (UIA) in June. UIA-cities Antwerp, Vienna, Bologna and Utrecht shared insights on their projects.
The main goal was to exchange experiences, to learn from each other and to draw conclusions for the future. About 120 representatives from local and international governments attended. Afterwards there was a workshop ‘migration and integration’ from Eurocities, which was attended by around 20 participants.
Challenges and realisations
The conference opened with a panel discussion. The four cities discussed their political context. We found out in what way projects would continue with own resources and why. In the afternoon, everyone had the chance to participate in interactive workshops, that were guided by UIA-experts. Participants could ask questions and talk to the partners of all projects.
